English Meanings for Navarathri Nava Durga Vaibhavam

Shri Bala as Sahasrara – by Uma Kumar

Introduction.

On Friday, September 13th, 2024, Sri Bala blessed me with a song for Sharadha Navarathri. She wanted me to write about the different aspects of Durga who manifested themselves on each of the nine auspicious days. With her abundant grace, I wrote most of the verses on the same day and finished the work on the following Friday, September 20th.

On Saturday, September 21st, I received a beautiful hymn on Lord Muruga from my cousin in India. This lady is an ardent devotee of Lord Skanda and very well versed and talented in Tamil literature. She is a great poet too and has been abundantly blessed by Shanmuga!

It was late at night, and I was very tired. However, even as I started reading these beautiful verses, I quickly realized the language was at a very high level and I didn’t understand the poetic nuances at all.

At that moment I was subjected to a moment of inadequacy and despondency. I was overwhelmed by a doubt that perhaps all the songs that Bala had bestowed on me were a mere figment of my miserable mind. In sharp contrast to literary talent of the highest nature, most of my work contains very simple words. Pondering on this, in one single moment, I lost complete confidence in my most precious connection with Bala.

As I went to bed that night, I asked Bala to come in a dream and confirm to me that She is indeed the direct source of all the words I write!!

Even though I chided myself and laughed at the folly of my desire, nevertheless, at that specific moment, I needed Bala to assure me of Her Divine presence!

In the early hours of Sunday, September 22nd, I had an intense experience with Sri Bala. In a most miraculous manner, this loving Child-goddess, did indeed convince me of Her Divine presence within me, guiding me and blessing the world through the many songs!

I woke up completely rejuvenated in mind and heart!

Yet, I didn’t have the time until today (September 24th), to create an audio version of this auspicious song.

I sincerely hope and pray that all those who recite these verses during the hallowed period of Navarathri, receive the grace, blessings of Divine Bala and indeed experience Her in the same intimate manner as I did.

 Sri Bala Charanam.

With Sri Bala’s blessings, let us enter these verses that manifest the glory or the splendor of the nine aspects of Goddess Durga!

The word “Vaibhavam” means the “spectacle” or the festival celebrating the advent of these brilliant and fiery Shakthi deities.
